The Real-World Context

Leave is approved, but the roster still shows a gap. Or a holiday is missed and a clock-in is flagged as absence.

The Test Scenario

We created LeaveType: Annual 22 days, gave a worker 18/22 remaining, requested 3 days leave overlapping a rostered shift, then added a holiday calendar for that week.

How It Works (The Mechanics)

1. Request → Approval — LeaveRequest pending → approved, deducts from LeaveBalance per year.
2. Roster check — approved leave blocks the roster slot, no false “missing clock-in.”
3. Holiday awareness — punch on holiday is flagged as holiday, not absence.

The Results / What We Verified

• Balance deducted correctly (18→15). Pass.
• Roster gap closed when leave approved. Pass.
• Holiday punch not flagged as absence. Pass.

Honest caveat: Negative balances still need HR approval — the engine warns, it doesn’t auto-reject.
